| I wonder what it was about today.
I was driving home today from a birthday party when this old automatic civic tried to race me. In traffic. At 40 mph. Right before a red light. When we stopped for the red light, the whole car looked over at me. Two girls, two guys. So I gave them my biggest smile and waved enthusiastically at them. haha They all looked away.
I'm still driving home, but I hit some really bad traffic along the way. It's stop and go traffic. All of a sudden I hear a "COOOOOOOL!!!". I look to my left to see these two guys in a minivan staring straight at me and my car. Maybe it was my swim suit? I didn't really pay them any mind. At this point, I start calling people in the area to see if we could meet up for me to kill time for traffic to die down. It just so happened that my friend was at the nearby Barnes & Noble so I exit off to go pick her up. I'm at a red light in the left turn lane waiting for the light to turn green when I hear a "Hey!". I turn to my right and see the same two guys in the same minivan!
Guy 1: So what have you done with the car? Me: Nothing really. I replaced the exhaust and did a lot of maintanence basics. Guy 2: This is your car right? Your car? Me: Uh...yes. This is my car. Guy 2: Can I have your number? Me: What?! *laughs in disbelief* Guy 2: I'm not a weirdo or anything. Can I have your number? Me: I've got a boyfriend. Well, I'm going to go to Barnes & Noble to pick up my friend now *as the light turns green* Guy 1: Would you like some company? Me: No, I'm good. *laughs*
I make the left hand turn and the minivan that was in the straight lane has made a left and has followed me to Barnes & Noble! I park on the shoulder near the front of Barnes & Noble and the minivan pulls up next to me.
Guy 2: So do you track your car? Me: I haven't yet as I probably couldn't pass inspection. I actually just put in a new clutch and tranny. Both guys look at each other. Guy 2: My friend has an fd. Me: Nice. I want an fd. Guy 2: I've got a Corolla. Me: Corolla? *thinking he's talking about a new one* Guy 2: Yeah, an 86. Me: Ah, an 86. *sees a car coming from behind* Um, you guys are blocking traffic.
They pull in front of me and my friend heads out and gets into my car. As we drive to I.H.O.P., the minivan is still following us. But since we were going in the wrong direction, I bust a quick u-turn in the middle of the road (which the minivan could not handle) and somehow lost the two guys.
Seriously. I wonder what it was about today. | | |

| I did not realize how much I missed driving my 7 until driving it for the past week straight nonstop. I've missed the smell of fuel and exhaust fumes blending into a suffocating mass of air inside of my car. I've missed listening to the whine of my tranny in first, second and third gear. And the rattling of my gear shift knob when it is in gear. I've missed having to heel toe to a stop every single time just because my car does not idle. I miss driving a stick shift and the feel of driving a rwd. And I miss having a gas guzzler for a car. You may think that I'm being just a bit sarcastic here, but in all honesty, I haven't smiled while driving a car for over a year. This is probably the best feeling, the best high that I could get. And I get so excited when I think about when I pick up a tranny next weekend. It would be the best Christmas gift to myself. Not only will a new tranny mean no more whine, it also means that I'll get to put my new clutch in as well as replace some minor parts. And I have so many future plans for my 7 too and this is only a tiny start. Ah!! I'm so excited!! >_< | | |
